With the ever increasing demand for the limited facilities, admission to Okuapemman School is very competitive. Only half of those who apply are admitted.
Admission Requirements
Applicants from Junior High School
(JHS) must obtain at least grade one in six subjects of the Basic Education
Certificate Examination (BECE) offered by the West African Examination Council
(WAEC). Foreign applicants must present credentials equivalent to the Ghanaian
BECE. The average age of the enrolling first year students is 15years. There is
no age requirement for admission into Okuapemman School.
Students at Okuapemman
Okuapemman has a diverse student body. Numbering about 2300, the students come from various social and economic backgrounds to pursue courses in their interest. Majority of the students are from Ghana. However, there are a few exchange students and others from various parts of the world.
All enrolling fresh students have better grades in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Though students are introduced to a rigorous academic program they are also encouraged to pursue personal development through the numerous extracurricular activities.
Okuapemman encourages its students to actively participate in extracurricular activities and join campus organizations to develop leadership skills. Students are obliged to join at least one organization or club on campus. The dynamism that is usually associated with Okuas students is born out of its numerous campus clubs. The new student soon discovers that Okuapemman is not only a fortress of academic scholarship but also an incubator of character and good leadership.
Accepted applicants enroll in September.
There are three terms in the school year as laid down by
the Ghana Education Service (GES). Each school (academic) year covers 40 weeks
starting in September and ends in July.
1st Term - September to December
2nd Term - January to April
3rd Term - May to July/Augusts
